HISTORY

There have been three previous mining episodes at Catalpa’s Edna May Gold Project.  In 1911, the prospector Edmund John Annear applied for the first mining lease for the Edna May site which he mined until 1922. In 1935 mining resumed, primarily for tungsten which was in demand for the war effort, before the mine was again closed in 1947.

ACM Gold reopened operations in 1985 until 1991, extracting the relatively soft oxide resources using conventional open pit mining.

Catalpa’s predecessor, Westonia Mines Limited, was listed on the ASX in 2002, and undertook two feasibility studies on the Edna May Project.

The Company was renamed to Catalpa Resources in September 2008, to better reflect the growing positive outlook both for gold, and for the Edna May Gold Project.
